As the Art Director of The Squash Blossom I am proud to represent the work of Kathy Beekman. Not only is she one of my favorite artists but one of the most acknowledged artists in the gallery. I believe Kathy gains this attraction through her simplified form and powerful use of color. Kathy's use of color is a very strong aspect of her work. The subtle combination and contrasting of warms and cools creates a harmonizing balance in every composition. Each landscape evokes a feeling or memory that draws the viewer further into the piece. A man from Woodland Park purchased Midwestern Barn because it reminded him of his childhood in Iowa. The proud owner of Hilltop Road who lives on Park Ave in New York City says, "I look at the piece every day in my bedroom, I derive from it a feeling of peace and comfort." Kathy Beekman is a fabulous artist who continues to build a higher following with every new piece. I can not wait to have a Kathy Beekman hanging in my home. |

Artist David Castle had this to say about the show "Chasing the Light" which was exhibiting at Gallery 821 in Denver, Colorado: Kathy is one of those artists who creates paintings that I could step right in to. For me it has to do with my fascination of “place” - Kathy’s paintings really do evoke a sense of yearning to just be there in that place and time. It promises to be a great show… and, there’s a bonus! Kathy will be demonstrating her pastel painting at Gallery 821.... Not only is she a treat to watch as she creates, but she’s a fun person to chat with a bit about her art and process. David Castle Fine Artist |
